After two years, Foraker moved to the Homicide Unit. A few years later he made Detective and was assigned to the East Criminal Investigations Division (ECID), working burglary and theft cases. In my time in Fort Myers however, I heard about LCSO and the opportunities there.” In 2012 Foraker joined the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, starting on road patrol in the East District. “I learned the fundamentals of investigations and more in the four years I was there,” Foraker explained. The division regulates the manufacturing, distribution, sales, and services of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in Florida. He joined the state’s Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco in 2008, relocating to Fort Myers. “I was in law enforcement, but still yearning to do investigations and that type of work,” Foraker said. After graduation he joined the Florida Highway Patrol and worked the roads of Hillsborough County for two years. Always intrigued by tales of his grandfather’s experience as a 25-year veteran of the Michigan State Police, David majored in Criminology at Florida State University. After his freshman year, the Forakers relocated to Lakeland, Florida where David graduated from Seffner Christian Academy.
